Angel
A spiritually prepared individual who provides compassionate, practical support to participants during ceremony — physical comfort, grounding presence, and communication with the facilitator. Distinct from a facilitator: angels do not lead ceremony or sing icaros unless separately trained to.
An angel is a member of Earth Connection Community's ceremonial support team who accompanies participants through ceremony with steady, compassionate presence. Angels move quietly through the ceremonial space offering practical comfort — a blanket, a cup of water, a hand to hold, help reaching the bathroom — and grounding presence for anyone moving through a difficult passage in ceremony. When a participant needs something beyond what an angel can offer, the angel communicates directly with the facilitator, who holds ultimate responsibility for the ceremonial container.
Angels are drawn from ECC's community members who have demonstrated maturity, steadiness, and a sincere commitment to the ceremonial life, and they are prepared for their role through the community's guidance. Their care continues after the ceremony formally closes, as participants integrate what they have experienced and return to ordinary awareness.
The angel role is distinct from the facilitator's. Angels do not lead ceremony, direct its arc, or sing icaros unless they have received separate training to do so. Their purpose is presence and support, not spiritual authority — they serve the ceremony that the facilitator holds, rather than holding it themselves.
