Ayahuasquero / Ayahuasquera

A practitioner trained in the preparation and ceremonial use of ayahuasca within the Shipibo curanderismo tradition — a term of respect for someone who has undergone formal apprenticeship under a lineage holder.

An ayahuasquero (feminine: ayahuasquera) is a practitioner trained in the preparation and ceremonial use of ayahuasca within the Shipibo curanderismo tradition. The title is earned through years of apprenticeship under a lineage holder — learning the icaros (sacred ceremonial songs), plant dietas, and ceremonial protocols that govern reverent use of the sacrament — not through academic study or self-declaration.

ECC's facilitators carry training rooted in this lineage. The term is used with respect, and is reserved for those who have completed the traditional apprenticeship path recognized within Shipibo communities.
