Divine Encounter

A direct experiential contact with what the participant understands as the sacred, the divine, God, or the ground of being — the most sought and most transformative possibility of deep ceremony.

Divine Encounter describes a direct, felt experience of contact with the sacred during ceremony — an experiential meeting with what a participant understands as God, the divine, or the ground of being. Within Earth Connection Community's religious practice, this encounter is understood as the deepest purpose of ceremony: not a mental exercise or metaphor, but a lived, embodied moment in which the boundary between the individual and the divine seems to soften, if only briefly.

Such encounters are described across many contemplative and religious traditions — as theophany, as mystical union, as communion with spirit — and within the Shipibo curanderismo tradition from which ECC's lineage descends, ayahuasca ceremony has long been approached as a sacrament through which such contact is sought with reverence and careful preparation. ECC does not promise or guarantee a divine encounter to any participant; each ceremony is offered as an invitation into sincere spiritual seeking, held by trained facilitators, with the outcome left to the sacred itself.
