Lineage Holder

A person recognized within their tradition as a carrier and transmitter of an unbroken line of ceremonial knowledge — someone who received formal apprenticeship and is authorized to pass the tradition forward.

A lineage holder is a person recognized within a spiritual or ceremonial tradition as a carrier and transmitter of an unbroken line of teaching — someone who has completed a formal apprenticeship under prior lineage holders and has, in turn, been recognized by their own teachers as authorized to carry the tradition forward.

Within Shipibo curanderismo, lineage holders carry the ceremonial songs (icaros), plant knowledge, and ritual forms that define the tradition, and it is from such lineage holders that ECC's own facilitators received their training. The role is not self-appointed or academically conferred — it is granted through years of relationship, demonstrated discipline, and the recognition of one's teachers.
