The pre-ceremony protocol is the set of preparation guidelines Earth Connection Community provides to every participant in the weeks before a retreat. It covers diet, substances to avoid, medication considerations, prayer, and mindset — giving participants a clear, consistent path toward the retreat.
The dietary and substance guidelines exist for spiritual and contraindication-risk reasons: certain foods, substances, and medications carry known interactions with the sacrament. Where a medication is flagged, ECC states the contraindication as a known fact, but any decision to pause or adjust that medication is made by the participant together with their own medical provider — ECC never instructs anyone to stop taking a prescribed medication.
Beyond the physical guidelines, the pre-ceremony protocol also encourages participants toward preparatory prayer, intention setting, and — where called for — fasting or an isolation retreat, so that arrival at ceremony is spiritually as well as practically prepared.
