Transfiguration describes a deep spiritual transformation in which a person's relationship to themselves, to others, and to the divine is fundamentally renewed. The term carries deliberate resonance with the Christian account of Christ's Transfiguration — a moment in which his divine nature was revealed in radiant form — while also naming a transformative theme found across Sufi, Buddhist, and Indigenous ceremonial traditions, each of which speaks in its own language of a self made new through sacred encounter.
Within Earth Connection Community's practice, transfiguration names the kind of lasting spiritual change some participants report following deep ceremony: a shift in how they perceive the divine, the natural world, and their place within it. ECC's facilitators, formed in the Shipibo curanderismo tradition from which the community's lineage descends, hold ceremony as a sacred space in which such transformation may be sought — always as a spiritual unfolding, never promised or guaranteed as an outcome of any single ceremony.
